To be fair, it's a lot harder to pick the right man to go over when you have 30 to choose from - and, whatever his shortcomings, Batista was undeniably a star worthy of gracing WrestleMania 30's main event.

Problem is, this was Daniel Bryan's year (CM Punk's year, of course, being the one before). And whomever WWE chose to take his spot as Royal Rumble winner - whether Big Dave or a returning Hulk Hogan - was always going to be on the receiving end of one or two jeers.

It was obvious to most that Bryan should have won the match to set up his crowning moment, but what's important is that WWE learnt from its mistake and ensured that the fans got their wish in the end anyhow.

Unfortunately, though, that lesson was quickly forgotten when they decided Roman Reigns would win it the following year.
