10 Wrestling Matches Where The Wrong Guy Went Over
3. Triple H Vs Randy Orton
There were a great many things wrong with Randy Orton's first world title reign in the summer of 2004, the fact that it was just a month long probably among the least of them (which says a lot about how horribly it was booked).
Instead of having Orton defy his Evolution elders by refusing to relinquish the World Heavyweight Championship, he was brutally beaten up as punishment for winning it. He spat in Triple H's face - sure - but only after they had kicked him to the kerb.
The whole thing felt like it was playing out backwards.
What's more, his defeat at Unforgiven seemed to spell the end of his title ambitions. Triple H began fending off other opponents, and his former protege instead feuded with Ric Flair. It was almost like: get back in your box, kid.
