Heading into WrestleMania XXX, Daniel Bryan was facing the most insurmountable of odds. After months of feuding with Triple H and The Authority, Bryan was poised to finally capture the WWE Championship - if he could defeat Triple H, Randy Orton, and Batista in the same evening. From a storyline perspective, it was the ultimate long shot.

Jim Ross has always been great at getting those odds over - framing the situation as truly difficult for the babyface underdog while simultaneously making fans rally behind him. Daniel Bryan was already riding a wave of support, and J.R. could have made the chase even more memorable.

The match with HHH - which opened WrestleMania - also happened to be a classic contest. With the stipulation that the winner would be included in the show's main event, Bryan and Triple H battled for all they were worth - Bryan to show up The Authority and win for the fans, and HHH to prove he could still be a champion.

J.R. would have had no trouble getting those stakes across... all while pulling for Bryan with the rest of us.
