10 Wrestling Moments Everyone Misunderstood As Kids

7. Why Do We Have To Watch This Tuesday In Texas?

As kids, if we didn't have cable or satellite television, we were left at the mercy of the VHS library to fulfil our wrestling needs, and those tapes were expensive.

We also wanted the action figures and the styrofoam hands and the Bret Hart glasses and the Legion of Doom shoulder pads and everything else we could get our mitts on. When we finished watching those tapes, we'd often just watch them again to relive the reassuring triumph of a beloved babyface consistently overcoming the odds.

Incidentally, how a child is meant to become a fan of WWE nowadays is quite the puzzle. Daddy, what's that red stuff all over Roman, and why the f*ck did he just lose to that man after three years of trying?

Survivor Series 1991 was different. All throughout the show, we were told that a much bigger and better show was just around the corner, and we understood that we needed to watch it in order to get a better understanding of what was going on. We told our parents this, and they reacted as if they were sick of the bloody sight of us. They probably were. I was always like this.

In reality, this was the WWF at their most cynical. Even This Tuesday In Texas wasn't pivotal to the events that would follow; the big rematch between The Undertaker and Hulk Hogan didn't yield a conclusive result!
