10 Wrestling Performances That Proved People Wrong
6. Eddie Guerrero - Vs. Brock Lesnar, No Way Out 2004
There was no questioning the fact that Eddie Guerrero was well and truly over with the WWE fanbase by the time 2004 came into view. The latino star had captured the hearts and imaginations of all who took in his cheeky antics over on SmackDown, and he appeared to be riding a huge wave of momentum coming into the most important part of the WWE calendar.
Then, the news of then-WWE Champion Brock Lesnar being done with the company coming into 'Mania XX seemed to open up the opportunity for Guerrero to finally reach the top of the mountain. However, not everyone was convinced he had what it takes to get over on such a big stage.
Bruce Prichard confessed on his Something to Wrestle With pod that people in the back felt his size and "the fact that he was Mexican" (his words) would mean that the general audience would struggle to connect with him. Yet, once the roof very nearly ripped off the Cow Palace, and both Eddie and Brock had put the finishing touches on a match for the ages and brilliantly executed underdog story, not a single soul doubted just how over Latino Heat was.
