10 Wrestling Reboots More Famous Than The Original

5. WrestleMania (Starrcade)

WrestleMania is arguably WWE's greatest triumph. It's the one night of the year where fans with only a fleeting interest in the sport renew their Network subscription and prepare to stay up late in the hopes of being converted.

Yet it is an incontrovertible fact that the NWA pioneered the idea of a wrestling super-show first. Starrcade, which would eventually become WCW's showpiece, was initially held in 1983. That's a year prior to the inaugural WrestleMania.

Vince McMahon's version is a lot more famous - partly because it has an infinitely superior name, but mainly because of a decisive victory in the Monday Night Wars, which saw that his opponents staged their last-ever signature show in 2000.

Whatever its origins, though, WWE definitely deserve a bucket load of credit for turning 'Mania into the cultural phenomenon it's now become. Even on their best day, Starrcade organisers could have only dreamed of a six-figure attendance.
