Cody Rhodes' recent transformation from under-card after-thought to main event star must have raised some eyebrows in WWE - especially since his 2016 exit was less about trimming the fat than it was his desire to spread his wings and fly.

If they wanted Cody back, they'd probably have to roll out the red carpet and afford him the sort of opportunities which escaped his clutches time and time again during the decade or so he spent with the company the first time round.

For now, then, put this one firmly in the "maybe" category. Every noise coming from the Rhodes camp suggests the former Intercontinental Champion is enjoying his time as a freelancer on on the global wrestling scene - but that could change if tempting offer (and not necessarily in terms of financial remuneration) comes his way.
