10 Wrestling Storylines That Started Hot But Ended Terribly

6. Bray Wyatt Vs. Randy Orton

Our most recent example of a potentially great storyline gone awry concluded with one of the worst matches WWE have booked in years. Bray Wyatt's House Of Horrors was a nightmare, but not in the way WWE had intended. Instead of conjuring fear and danger, its schlock provoked widespread ridicule, with the match descending into pure WrestleCrap territory before both performers had even hit our screens.

This was the nadir, but it certainly wasn't the feud's only low point. Orton's turn kicked off with him burning Sister Abigail's burial site to the ground, and their WrestleMania bout saw Wyatt project images of maggots and roaches onto the ring to unsettle 'The Viper'. Furthermore, 'The Eater Of Worlds' was at his cartoonish worst throughout, cutting some of the most incoherent, babbling promos of his career.

The real shame here is that the storyline actually started off pretty strong. Their initial feud in 2016 wasn't up to much, but Randy was the most interesting he's been in years when he eventually joined forces with Wyatt, and with Luke Harper as the odd man out, it looked like WWE were onto a winner. Sadly, the angle completely fell apart when Orton inevitably turned.
