When Chavo Guerrero was released by the WWE on June 25th, 2011 he clearly wasn't happy. The release came at his own request because he was tired of being used in what was essentially an enhancement role for too long. He felt he should have a more important role on shows. WWE clearly disagreed. While you cannot blame Chavo for being upset at having to feud with Hornswoggle and being lumbered with the hopeless (original) Sin Cara, his rant at John Cena was slightly bizarre. Just before Cena and Punk's highly-anticipated WWE Title match at Money in the Bank, Chavo unloaded with lengthy criticism directed at Cena and his wrestling ability. Among the highlights:
People will remember this PPV. You know Punk will bring it. Ive been in the ring with both of you and Punk has it. Cena you have mic skills yes but if you think people believe your BS lazy comeback that you do exactly the same every match then you are mistaken. Eddie and I taught you different. We never said get lazy and do the damn thing every night. We always said think out of the box and give the fans what they deserve and not rely on the machine to get you over. I hope this lights a fire under your a** and you deliver this Sunday. Dont just rest on you being over cause you are and that is easy. Challenge yourself and give the fans what they deserve. Thats why they boo you. Because they arent stupid. They know what they pay for and the great promo guy but the sh**** match guy that you have become is not what they want. I understand longevity but at the sacrifice of the fans trust is not worth it. Deliver on your fans and deliver on why you got into this business.
Chavo went on and on. After Cena and Punk delivered their classic, he did give them praise (especially Punk) but further warned Cena to respect the fans and the business. Naturally, Cena never replied (at least publicly) to Chavo. That's just the professional he is.
