8. Batista Vs. Alberto Del Rio
Batista is another WWE star who is not afraid to speak his mind. The big man has voiced his opinion on a number of controversial subjects over the last few years, most notably his hatred of the current PG-rated WWE product. As a main event star and buddy of Triple H, he can pretty much do as he pleases without fear of reprisal. When the returning Batista took aim at Alberto Del Rio in January 2014, however, Del Rio wasn't afraid to shoot back. The fact that Del Rio was fired because he slapped a WWE employee across the face (after the employee refused to apologise for making a racist comment) suggests that he really doesn't care who he upsets when his pride is at stake. After Del Rio cut a promo on Batista on Raw, The Animal responded by tweeting 'So I hear Alberto Del Rio is talking trash. Just one question... Who the hell is Alberto Del Rio?!!!'. ADR quickly responded, saying 'I'm the one wining all the major titles while u were getting ur ass kick by your plumber (Vince lucero) See u at the rumble'. Lucero is the man that Batista defeated in his first MMA fight in October 2012. Putting an exclamation on things, Del Rio signed off with Like we say in #Mexico U can buy muscles but U can't buy Huevos cabron'. Batista caused a measure of controversy when he replied to that comment with the following:
Seems 2 me that some C level stars in a B level star era have bought into their own hype. Dont turn a work into a shoot. #realitycheck
He later deleted the tweets but it was a source of conversation amongst those in the WWE locker room. Was this thing a work, a shoot or a mix of both? That the two men were able to work with each other in the ring afterwards without incident suggests that it wasn't a big deal between them.
