10 WWE Bitch Slaps Heard Around The World

3. Test Slaps John Cena - Smackdown 2002

Sometimes it feels like John Cena has been on top forever, but there was a time where even the mighty franchise was just a small fish in a big pond looking for a bite to eat. And Andrew €˜Test€™ Martin made sure he knew he was a small fish. Cena had a hell of a debut in 2002 when Kurt Angle issued an open challenge and the young grappler, whose characteristics are now completely unrecognisable compared to today, answered the call. Cena came out and pushed Angle to the limit after declaring to the world that he held €˜ruthless aggression€™ as his one undeniable talent. From this match he earned plenty of respect backstage, and in an iconic moment he had the mighty Undertaker ask his name and shake his hand, seemingly giving his approval to the future icon. However, not long after this Cena was brought back down to size by the late perennial mid-card player, Test. It might feel like a million years ago, but back then Cena was a smaller guy at the bottom of the card, and when he cut a ridiculously unfunny promo on the gigantic Test, Test intercut the promo and slapped the taste out of the cocky Cena€™s mouth, leaving him temporarily right back at the bottom of the pile he had just started to climb. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jz_p-KcPh6g It may not have necessarily had as bigger impact at the time in comparison to some of these examples, but in hindsight when we look at the different paths these two men€™s careers took, it is an absolutely staggering moment in WWE history.
