10 WWE Bitch Slaps Heard Around The World

4. Trish Stratus Slaps Chris Jericho - Wrestlemania XX 2004

Wrestlemania XX in 2004 was one of the more disappointing Wrestlemania€™s there has been. While the main events were very good, the undercard itself was at times absolutely shambolic, and considering the event was supposed to be €˜Where It All begins€Again€™ it certainly didn€™t present WWE€™s product quite as emphatically as McMahon and his crew would have hoped. One moment that was a big win from that evening though was the truly surprising heel swerve from Trish Stratus which was marked by a phenomenal series of slaps to the chops of Chris Jericho. The storyline leading into this one had started as comic relief. Canadian buds Chris Jericho and Christian had a bet going on between them (for one CANADIAN dollar mind you) over who could sleep with the girls they were wooing first. Jericho was trying to bed Stratus and Christian was gunning for Lita. However Stratus would find out about the bet, and Jericho became wracked with shame and guilt. When Christian showed none of this remorse and started attacking Stratus, Jericho became the hero that saved the day, and started feuding with Christian, in defence of Trish. Christian and Jericho were having a good match at Mania, however Stratus accidentally hit Jericho in the forearm thinking he was Christian, which thus allowed Christian to hit his finisher and take the win. As Stratus pretended to apologise she suddenly launched into a series of slaps on Jericho and it was revealed to a stunned audience that she was actually involved with Christian and they had just completely played Jericho. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nxJXUe7UFY#t=3m12s It was particularly interesting because until this point Trish had never really actually had that much of a character. She was a successful Diva by all means, but like most of the Diva€™s she was essentially treated as €˜eye candy€™ and because she was so stunning she was naturally a babyface. This all ended at Mania XX when she slapped Jericho to bits, and it started what was probably the most entertaining run of her career as she really started to envelop herself in the role of a heel, and really managed to garner some heat with the crowd. It was a nice surprise and transition in an otherwise very ordinary Wrestlemania season.
