The late WWE Hall of Famer Eddie Guerrero is recognized as one of the greatest in-ring performers of all-time, with a charisma only matched by his incredible in-ring work rate.

While Guerrero did enjoy a somewhat lengthy WWE Title run during his storied career, he was Champion during a time in which television ratings were sluggish and the product was trending downward from a creative standpoint.

According to those close to Guerrero, the Latino Heat creator put the entire weight of poor WWE TV ratings on his own shoulders, and felt it was his job as Champion to carry the company.

Speaking to The Sun Newspaper in the UK, Eddie Guerrero admitted he had been a disaster as a ratings and revenue drawing Champion.

"It's a great responsibility being champion, as you're the one carrying the ball, and I found it very difficult," said Guerrero. "It was the first time I'd held the title and I don't think I was ready. I was ready to win the belt, but not for what lay ahead of me. I wasn't prepared mentally for what happens outside the ring - because I think that's where the real challenges lie. I was taking things like attendances and ratings very personally."

Guerrero passed away tragically in 2005, and was never able to hold the WWE Title for a second time.
