10 WWE Champions Who Never Lost Their Titles
4. Andre The Giant
After failing to persuade Hulk Hogan to sell him the WWF Championship in late 1987, Ted DiBiase's attempts at procuring the title were stifled by his inability to defeat Hulk for the belt in one-on-one action.
Instead, he turned to Hulk's arch nemesis, the Eight Wonder of the World and made him and offer he couldn't refuse.
With Andre in his pocket, the WrestleMania III rematch between the Hulkster and Giant finally took place at the Main Event in February of 1988.
With the deck stacked against Hogan, DiBiase used his resources not only to pay Andre to do his bidding for him, but also footed the bill for extensive facial surgery to have an impostor Dave Hebner referee the match and count Hulks shoulders to the mat.
Just like that, Hulk Hogan's 4-year reign as champion was over.
While it was later revealed that the referee was in fact Dave's brother Earl (of Montreal fame), Andre was now the champion for the first and only time - and he handed it right over to DiBiase.
While Andre's was the shortest title reign in WWE history, DiBiase's lasted merely days before Jack Tunney admitted he'd had a 'mare and stripped him of the title.
