10 WWE Champions Who Vanished Without A Trace After WrestleMania
6. Triple H - 2016
Triple H winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at the 2016 Royal Rumble was classic LOL, Hunter wins energy.
It was a nostalgia-fueled power play designed to manufacture sympathy for Roman Reigns, and it backfired spectacularly. Fans didn’t rally behind Reigns. They booed louder. And by the time WrestleMania 32 rolled around, the main event felt more like a contractual obligation than a climax.
The match itself was a slog, driving fans to the exits before Reigns hit the final spear. But the real twist came after the bell.
Triple H — the man who had dominated WWE programming for years as the face of The Authority — wasn't on TV anymore.
He dropped the title and ghosted the entire storyline like it never happened. For someone who had been the puppet master of WWE’s main event scene, his vanishing act was jarring.
Really, there was no intention of The Game sticking around beyond this story. He was there to get some boos and leave, simple at that.
