10 WWE Champions Who Vanished Without A Trace After WrestleMania

5. Goldberg - 2020

Goldberg’s 2020 Universal Title win over “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt in Saudi Arabia was controversial from the jump. Fans weren’t thrilled about a 53-year-old part-timer squashing one of WWE’s most protected characters, but hey — it was all building to a big WrestleMania showdown with Roman Reigns, right?

Wrong.

Reigns pulled out of WrestleMania 36 due to COVID-19 concerns (and nobody blames him for that), and Goldberg was hastily booked to drop the title to Braun Strowman instead. The match was a glorified finisher spam session, and just like that, Goldberg was gone.

As you know, this wasn't the first time WCW's greatest creation had marched into 'Mania with a world championship, then walked out and vanished from the roster like he was never there.

On this occasion, WWE wasn't going to use his matches in empty arenas, and without getting the contest with Reigns that they really wanted, all they could do was send Bill home indefinitely.

Goldberg would return later for more Saudi paydays and nostalgia matches, but his 2020 run ended with a whimper — not a bang. For a guy who once defined dominance, this exit was anything but.
