That man again.

Brock Lesnar’s 2020 title reign ended in front of zero fans during the pandemic-stricken WrestleMania 36, where he dropped the WWE Championship to Drew McIntyre in a short, finisher-heavy main event. It was a passing of the torch moment — or at least, it was supposed to be.

Instead, Lesnar disappeared immediately after the match and didn’t return for over a year.

Granted, the pandemic threw everything into chaos, and Lesnar’s contract was reportedly up. But for a guy who had dominated WWE’s main event scene for nearly a decade, his sudden absence left a gaping hole and a lot of unfinished business.

Behind the scenes, Lesnar thought his career was over. He'd planned to retire until WWE got him on the phone the next year and he agreed to come back. Money talks and so does being able to wrestle in front of a crowd again.

It wasn’t until SummerSlam 2021 that Lesnar returned, now sporting a man-bun and cowboy boots, to confront Roman Reigns. But by then, the 2020 title loss felt like ancient history.
