10 WWE Comedy Characters That Somehow Didn't SUCK
7. Santino Marella
The duality of Santino Marella does make it difficult to call him a resounding success during his many years with the company, but at his best the ‘Milan Miracle’ was amazing. The real-life Canadian managed to rip off an Italian accent to great effect, to the point where he won multiple singles and tag gold within WWE despite being the butt of almost every single joke of the late 2000s and early 2010s.
With his cobra in his pocket ready to be unsheathed at any minute, Marella managed to remain a popular figure in WWE despite how atrocious the comedic material he was subjected to often was. Being portrayed as a useless wrestler also made for some highly dramatic moments, most notably as part of the final two of the 2011 Royal Rumble, and as the last challenger to Daniel Bryan in an Elimination Chamber match in 2012.
The less said about Santina Marella the better, but he otherwise had a memorable career and thanks to his willingness to be a human punchline he will likely end up in the WWE Hall of Fame.
