10 WWE Comedy Characters That Somehow Didn't SUCK

3. Kurt Angle

Kurt Angle had the gift of being able to go from a goofy idiot to an absolute killer inside the ring, with the former Olympian creating a number of funny moments throughout his time in WWE.

Being introduced as a highly touted prospect after winning a gold medal at the 1996 Olympic Games, it could have been easy for Angle to refuse to play a comedy character. Instead, the 'Wrestling Machine' embraced the role of a bumbling all-American fool and would be rewarded with a WWE Championship reign within his first year in the company.

Throughout his WWE tenure, Kurt would fluctuate between performing as a no-nonsense master of the ring and a complete and utter buffoon without ever jeopardizing his character. In the same year that he had a stint as general manager of SmackDown, he also had a series of classic matches against the likes of Brock Lesnar, Eddie Guerrero, and The Undertaker, showing how effortlessly he could shift between being a pro wrestler and sports entertainer.

Being one of the best in-ring wrestlers and an all-time great comedy performer is very difficult, but Angle excelled in both parts of the game throughout his career. His milk baths and little cowboy hats have provided as many memories as the best of his classic matches.
