10 WWE Debuts That Were DOOMED From The Start
9. Stalker DDP
Diamond Dallas Page was one of the most beloved babyfaces of WCW's most successful era. A real-life fairytale story, DDP overcame the odds to break into pro wrestling late in his life, taking every shot he was given, and capturing the hearts of fans everywhere.
Hiring Page and running him as a heel is kind of like hiring Bluey to be the villain in the new James Bond movie.
The storyline that he was put into also made this bizarre decision even worse. For weeks, viewers were shown someone stalking The Undertaker's wife, Sara. Filming her from afar and inside 'The Deadman's home, this sinister angle, where one of the most well-loved wrestlers in WWE history was having his home violated and his family preyed upon, was something so heinous that whoever was revealed as 'Taker's stalker would be an instant figure of hate.
Only when DDP was revealed, this story was so far removed from the lovable everyman that fans were used to seeing on their screens that audiences didn't go for it in any way. Buying DDP as a heel would've been difficult enough, but attempting to portray him as a man who'd stalk a woman in her own home was a complete misfire on every level.
