10 WWE Developmental Champions Who Came To Nothing

4. Johnny Jeter

Johnny! Johnny Jeter would go on to be one fifth of the Spirit Squad, winning tag team gold in the process, before the male cheerleaders were unceremoniously dumped in a crate and sent back to OVW. Jeter probably wasn't too saddened by this, as he experienced a whole heap of success in the developmental promotion.

Jeter was a two-time OVW Heavyweight Champion, winning the strap in 2003 and 2005. During this second run Jeter turned heel and created a faction alongside Ken Anderson (Mr. Kennedy) and Paul Burchill, allowing him to retain the title against a number of formidable challengers. He would eventually drop the title to former tag team partner Matt Cappotelli in emotional circumstances.

It was his tag team with Cappotelli that possibly produced Jeter's greatest time in WWE developmental. The duo were known as the Thrillseekers, and were frequently rumoured to be making the jump up to developmental. That never happened though, and just two months after beating Jeter for the title Cappotelli announced his retirement.

Jeter went on to become a male cheerleader before being released in 2007.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
