5. Eric Escobar

If you blinked particularly hard in late 2009, the chances are you would have missed Eric Escobar's run on SmackDown. Escobar was introduced alongside Vickie Guerrero, but was quite obviously not ready for TV. After being abandoned by Vickie he turned face, losing a load of handicap matches that the SmackDown GM (obviously Vickie) put him in. Three months after making his debut on SmackDown, Eric Escobar was released.

The end of 2008 was completely different for the Puerto Rican Nightmare however, as on 11 December 2008 he defeated none other than Sheamus O'Shaunessy to become only the third ever FCW Florida Heavyweight Champion. He held the title for two and a half months before dropping it to Joe Hennig (Curtis Axel).

Escobar still wrestles to this day, and does so under that very name. He also has triplets. Which is nice.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
