10 WWE Exits Which Seriously Affected Other Wrestlers
1. Montreal Screwjob Sticks To Shawn Michaels For 12 Years
Bret 'The Hitman' Hart's departure from WWF/E was arguably the most impactful exit the wrestling business has ever seen.
Long after Hart had been double-crossed on his way out of the company, the repercussions could still be felt in the form of Jim Neidhart and Davey Boy Smith both exiting in protest, the evil 'Mr. McMahon' character being born and the bitter reactions Hart's opponent on the night, Shawn Michaels, endured in Canada for years to come.
The proud people of the 'Great White North' never forgot what Michaels and McMahon did to their beloved Champion on that night at Survivor Series 1997 and routinely reminded the pair they 'screwed Bret!'
Michaels even used the bitterness directed towards him to produce one of the hottest reactions in WWE history back in 2005, when he pissed off Montreal by singing 'O, Canada' and teased the long-awaited return of 'The Hitman' in a masterclass heel performance.
There's no questioning Michaels still feels he did what he had to do on the night, but he definitely couldn't have imagined just how much of an impact the decision would have on both his career and the wrestling business as a whole.
The pair finally buried the hatchet twelve years later on an episode of Raw, but that didn't wipe away the time HBK spent performing in front of the masses with a screwjob-albatross hanging around his neck.
