10 WWE Feuds That Spanned Multiple Pay-Per-Views

4. Triple H Vs Batista (2005)

Batista's rise to the summit in WWE was initially one of those happy accidents the company would occasionally stumble on when they're looking elsewhere, but by mid-2005, the series of scraps with outgoing champion Triple H had firmly established the former Evolution heavy as one of the industry's next big talents.

Both entering the Elimination Chamber at January's New Years Revolution, Triple H exhibited genuine fear at the prospect of having to stand against then-teammate Batista, and elected not to help 'The Animal' after Randy Orton took him out with an RKO.

Unseating 'The Game' at Wrestlemania 21, Batista would victoriously defend his title at Backlash and Vengeance that year, dispatching Triple H once and for all inside Hell in a Cell before that year's Draft and some injury recovery time would separate the two permanently.

After the exquisitely booked slow-burn turn of Big Dave in the run-up to their first match, the Wrestlemania tangle actually ended up a little disappointing, but the two silenced doubters with an impressive and underrated rematch at Backlash the following month.

And by taking three (relatively) clean losses to Batista in such a short time, Triple H had managed to actually put a rising star over, finally combating the vitriol aimed at him in previous years.
