When booking a professional wrestling match, it is probably best to avoid attaching an object to a pole. This was a common gimmick during the late 90s and early 2000s, with Vince Russo beating the idea like a dead horse after joining WCW. Many objects have been attached to the pole, including a paddle, Viagra, and even Buff Bagwells mother (although she was technically on a forklift, not a pole). However, of all the terrible pole matches, there is one that rises above the rest in terms of stupidity: the pink slip on a pole match. The most famous pink slip on a pole match was held between Mankind and the Rock. The match itself wasnt terrible, but the gimmick simply does not make sense. Usually when an employee receives a pink slip, he or she is terminated from their position. However, in the WWE, the superstar who retrieves the pink slip gets to keep his job. The match simply ends up as another lame pole gimmick with a stipulation that doesnt even make sense.
