10 WWE Gimmicks Worse Than The Stretcher Match

9. Empty Arena Match

Much like the pink slip on a pole match, Mankind and the Rock also waged war in an empty arena match. The stipulation for this one is pretty self-explanatory. Two competitors fight each other in an arena with fewer fans than the crowd at a Creed reunion show. The two battled during halftime of the Super Bowl, with Mankind ultimately winning the title. In the world of professional wrestling, a crowd can really make or break a match. An amped up crowd can take a mediocre match to the next level, while a lifeless crowd can destroy an otherwise great match. This match was simply awkward, with no crowd reactions throughout the entirety of the contest and an obvious lack of pop after the title changed hands. Not only does the gimmick offer nothing of value, it takes away one of the most important aspects of a match: the audience.
