The praise heaped upon the likes of Mauro Ranallo and Corey Graves comes from the fact that they're not your typical WWE announcers. Both speak knowledgeably about the on-air product, and sell it to the audience with different forms of gusto. Other announcers by comparison are robotic, wooden, annoying, and just outright turn off hardcore fans who wish Jim Ross was still around.

Lawler at one time was the perfect antagonistic announcer, and his energy matched an exciting product. When the fun of the Attitude Era wore off, Lawler began losing some heat off of the old fastball, and by the mid-2000s, he was just a typical babyface announcer, adding nothing but forced one-liners to an uninteresting cauldron. When partnered with Ranallo earlier this year, the old Lawler re-emerged to a degree, with biting criticism and sharper insults. Fans definitely noticed the change, and it was welcome.
