10 WWE Hall Of Famers Used Underwhelmingly In Later Years

4. Vince McMahon (2007-Present)

There were few heels better than 1998 McMahon, whose smirking arrogance and need to wield lofty power were perfectly complimented by his comic timing and his willingness to make himself the butt of the situation for the enjoyment of all. The fans loved to hate McMahon, and he played the ideal foil for many, including Austin, Foley, The Rock, and The Undertaker.

When WWE returned to the USA Network in 2005, McMahon tried to so hard to be that Vince again, but that was the problem: he tried too hard. Feuds with DX and Donald Trump had their moments, but it all felt so forced, lacking the subtle charm of some of his earlier incidents. By 2007, shows were built around him, with exploding limos and siring leprechauns as the story cruxes. McMahon's occasional desire to be the primary bad guy over the last decade has paled mightily to back when he first discovered the formula.
