After Hogan's 2002 "Hulk Still Rules" DVD revealed the high potential of video anthologies for legendary grapplers, production of such DVDs started going into overdrive. Sometimes, the wrestlers themselves would pop up to hawk their own products. That's where Animal comes in, following the release of a Road Warriors DVD in the summer of 2005.

The sterner half of the transcendent face-painted duo partnered up with kooky midcard giant Heidenreich to defeat the younger, fresher team of MNM to become WWE Tag Team Champions, and reigned for several months as a new Legion of Doom. This included giving Heidenreich his own mohawk and paint job as the Joe Besser to Hawk's Curly. In his autobiography, Animal said he laments the short-lived reboot, and that he only took it on because there was a potential road agent job in it for him when the run ended.
