9. Missing Pieces

A quick note on the pre-show then, where Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin added matching attire to their better-than-average presentation in a predictable victory over the Hype Bros.

With the tale easily told of a team on the ascendency supplanting one on the decline in both kayfabe and reality, the makeshift American Alpha replacement act may work for Gable and returnee Benjamin after all. Their slick double team manoeuvres should get over if protected, and the vast technical skill both have displayed in past lives will serve them well as long as they can grab audience emotions as tight as their holds.

Across the ring, Zack Ryder and Mojo Rawley were yet again fractured to a fault, with miscommunications expediting their latest doubles collapse. Lingering around as a real life break-up would, the two are yet to cement their severance on screen whilst the audience gets to be the mutual friends that can see the writing on the wall scrawled bigger and brighter than the TitanTron's 'Hype Bros' logo.

Ryder looks destined to be the one to leave lumbering dunce Rawley in the dust sooner or later, but WWE may yet offer a for-the-sake-of-it swerve in a refreshed effort to get this year's Andre The Giant Battle Royal winner back in the hunt.
