7. The MMA Exhibition Nobody Asked For
You'll never get the approx 15 minutes it took for this MMA disaster to go curtain to curtain back. Ronda Rousey vs. Shayna Baszler could've been a winner at SummerSlam 2023, but it ended up being one of the most boring, poorly-received bouts in the pay-per-view's rich history. Honestly, it made Diesel vs. 'King' Mabel from 1995 look like Bret vs. Owen in the cage.
Splicing in some UFC style is always risky. Brock Lesnar has managed to walk that fine line since his 2012 return, but Ronda and Shayna failed to meet the mark. In fact, their "MMA Rules" match was an abomination that brought the curtain down on Rousey's rather unfulfilling pro wrestling career (all things considered).
It was bad, people.
The live crowd in Detroit either booed their way through it or seemed completely bored senseless. Even the cameramen around ringside seemed to turn their noses up at the thing. Just check out the guy in the background above. He's having the worst time.
