10 WWE Injuries That Came At The WORST Time
7. Ahmed Johnson Gets Kicked In The Kidney (And Out of Summerslam)
Ahmed Johnson was a guilty pleasure for many wrestling fans in the nineties. He was woefully uncoordinated in the ring (this is a man who regularly fell on his back while executing a spinebuster), and his shouty, garbled promos made him sound like a waste disposal unit trying to shred silverware. Yet his sheer physical presence and unhinged charisma made him an undoubtable fan favourite, even as he tripped over his opponents and the english language alike.
Such was his popularity that, at one point, he was even pencilled in to compete against Shawn Michaels for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam. Destiny, however - in the form of Ron Simmons' right foot - dislodged both those plans and Ahmed's kidney, as Simmons' storyline beatdown resulted in Ahmed needing four months recovery time after a stiff kick to the aforementioned organ. Despite the relatively short layoff, further injuries and terrible booking meant that Ahmed was never able to regain the momentum that propelled him into the main event scene.
Ah well. At least we'll always have War Zone.
