10 WWE Injuries That Came At The WORST Time

3. Triple H Misses The Invasion

The Invasion is still the biggest missed opportunity in wrestling history.

The story of ex-WCW and ECW wrestlers coming to the WWE and wreaking havoc could have lasted for years, but WWE Creative splurged the entire scenario in under eight months. The Invasion suffered from a lack of star power, as nearly every heavy hitter from WCW missed out on the angle and WWE's biggest stars were either undergoing unwanted heel turns (Steve Austin) or missing out half the storyline to get their feet wet in Hollywood (The Rock).

One man who could have helped was HHH, who - at this one shining moment in time - really was every bit as good as he claimed to be. The Triple H of 2000-early 2001 was arguably the best wrestler in the business, and his absence during the Invasion was keenly felt. Said absence came as the result of a stellar tag bout where HHH blew his quad out, yet somehow still managed to finish the match. However, his torn quad necessitated an eight month absence - long enough to miss the entire Invasion.

While skipping the most disappointing storyline in WWE history may have been good for Triple H - can't be blamed for something you weren't there for! - there's no doubt WWE's fans sorely missed his presence during the months-long debacle (just listen to the goosebump-inducing pop accompanying his return).
