10 WWE Main Roster Wrestlers Who Were WORSE In NXT
2. Baron Corbin
Baron Corbin debuted on NXT TV on 2 May 2013, losing to Damien Sandow in just over three minutes. He remained dormant in NXT until squashing CJ Parker in 30 seconds during TakeOver: Fatal 4-Way.
Following this, Baron almost had an undefeated streak, save a single loss to Neville, until he faced Samoa Joe at TakeOver: Brooklyn. While he was successful in the ring, Corbin was a bland character in dire need of definition.
Despite this, WWE believed in Corbin enough not only to book his main roster debut at WrestleMania 32, but to have him win the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.
Baron Corbin was and is a natural heel; his blandness worked as a Machiavellian trick to further his heeldom. A 70-day run with the United States Championship and winning the Money in the Bank contract in 2017 looked promising, even if that MITB cash-in didn't work out.
His stint as on-screen authority figure Constable Corbin began improvement in the character-led aspect of Baron's game; however, the turnaround that secured Corbin as a regular part of the WWE product was his victory at 2019’s King of the Ring which resulted in his current King Corbin gimmick.
After winning King of the Ring, Baron Corbin's character work was finally on level with his in-ring skill to make him a solid midcard heel.
