10 WWE Match Results That Didn't Matter At All
9. WrestleMania Battle Royal (WrestleMania 33)
Every year, the annual WrestleMania battle royal seems to get a little less important, so it's not like it really matters who wins it. Still, given everything that's happened since the 2017 iteration of the show of shows, that edition of the match comes off as particularly pointless.
At the WrestleMania 33 kickoff show, Mojo Rawley won the battle royal, outlasting the likes of Braun Strowman and last eliminating Jinder Mahal - with some help from Rob Gronkowski. Yes, it's clear that WWE booked it that way to get some mainstream media coverage - the very coverage they'd hoped to get with the Shaquille O'Neal-Big Show match that fell apart. In that sense, it was a success... for about 12 hours.
Taken longer term, though, it's ridiculous. Mojo has done next to nothing since his win, with all the horizon holds being a Hype Bros breakup and feud. Meanwhile, Strowman has been headlining shows and Mahal is the WWE Champion. Smart booking was thrown aside for the sake of a few news articles that did nothing more than teach lapsed fans that WrestleMania is still being held every year.
