10 WWE Matches That Defined Each Year Of The 2010s
3. 2017 - Brock Lesnar Vs Goldberg
The mere idea of Brock Lesnar vs Goldberg in 2017 would have seemed like a fever dream before Survivor Series 2016.
Things changed when Goldberg squashed Lesnar - the seemingly-unstoppable Beast - in just 86 seconds at Survivor Series. It set in motion a series of events that led to Goldberg winning the Universal Championship and facing Lesnar for the title at WrestleMania 33.
Lesnar and Goldberg put on a great match, far better than their car crash at WrestleMania XX. This short, but very sweet match ended with Brock vanquishing Goldberg to become Universal Champion for the first time. However, this story was far from over.
Lesnar would go onto hold the title for a mammoth 504 days, the longest World Championship reign of the modern era. In that time, he defended the belt a handful of times, effectively leaving Raw without a top champion for over a year.
Even when we all thought he was going to lose the belt, he retained, and defeated Roman Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania 34. It wasn't until SummerSlam in 2018 when Lesnar finally dropped the gold to Reigns, ending the whole sorry saga once and for all.
Well, until he got the belt back at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia. And then again at Extreme Rules in 2019.
Jesus Christ.
