10 WWE Matches That Defined Each Year Of The 2010s
2. 2018 - The Women's Royal Rumble Match
Bra and Panties Matches. The Diva Search. Everything Eva Marie ever did. These are just some of the thousands of reasons why the first ever all-female Rumble match wasn't just desired, it was needed.
WWE really began doubling down on its "Women's Revolution" in 2015 with the call-up of Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, and Sasha Banks. Things began to change over the next few years and, slowly but surely, women's wrestling was being taken more seriously by fans and WWE itself.
One of the biggest leaps forward for equality was the announcement by Stephanie McMahon (because of course it was Stephanie McMahon) that 2018's Royal Rumble Pay-Per-View would host two Rumble matches - one for the men and one for the women.
Not only was this a huge step for equality in WWE, but it also made the entire women's division feel way more legitimate. Performers now had to outlast 29 other people to get their shot at the title, which made both women's championships feel so much more desirable.
The match itself was won by Asuka, setting up her match with Charlottle Flair at WrestleMania 34. The first match being a bit pokey, but the second Women's Rumble in 2019 was a massive improvement.
Here's hoping that this trend will continue for years to come.
