3. The Undertaker Vs. Mankind - King Of The Ring 1998
So much has been written about this match that it's now taken on a legacy entirely separate from its two performers. But it should be romanticized because, at the end of the day, have you ever seen anything so insanely risky on WWE programming? The first high-risk stunt, with Foley getting chucked off the top of the cell like a rag doll (with an odd sense of what constitutes business casual) was a moment no one would dare recreate today. It was shocking. It was unexpected. It was... quite beautiful, in a strange way. It also featured one of the most recognizable calls in the history of commentary, with J.R.'s assertion that he'd been "broken in half" validating the real concern felt by fans and talent alike. But it was the image of Mick Foley storming back down the ramp after paramedics had attempted to take him to the back for legitimate medical examination that made this one truly legendary. The second big spot, a deadly chokeslam through the top of the cage (which was not supposed to break) made it absurd to think the main event between Kane and Stone Cold was going to be able to follow that.
