5. Tito Santana

¡Arriba!

Tito Santana was the picture of consistency during his WWF career. He was always the guy called upon by the top brass to put on a good match.

A former Intercontinental Champion, Santana was a mainstay in the mid-card scene before putting over the legendary Macho Man for the coveted gold. As a member of Strike Force, Santana and the previously discussed Rick Martel won the WWF Tag Team Championships during the golden age of tag-team wrestling. When Santana moved back into singles competition, he once again put over a future Hall Of Famer for the Intercontinental title: Mr. Perfect.

In 1991, Santana was repackaged as El Matador which, despite being a goofy, borderline-joke of a gimmick, allowed Tito to prolong his in-ring career several more years. During this time, Tito helped to elevate a young Shawn Michaels, Razor Ramon, and several others as the WWF veteran that could still go.

Like his former foe and fellow underrated superstar Greg Valentine, Tito was inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame in 2004. A consummate professional and well-respected by his peers, TIto Santana doesn't always get the credit he deserves, but the first ever Mexican-American Intercontinental Champion had a long, impressive career in the mid-card.
