10 WWE Moments That Prove Ruthless Aggression Era Was Best

7. The Most Criminally Underrated Swanton Bomb Ever

Say what you will about the quality of actual wrestling that took place during the Attitude Era, but what the in-ring product lacked in technical skill and refinement, it made up for with batsh*t crazy stunts and bumps. Guys like Mick Foley and the Hardy Boyz were putting their lives on the line in creative new ways night in and night out. It helped to mask their otherwise sloppy execution on the mat. WWE was forced to abandon this breakneck style for the most part during the Ruthless Aggression era because it had simply gone too far over the top, and there wasn't a way to raise the stakes much higher than they already had been without seriously compromising everyone's safety. (Remember Kurt Angle suplexing Shane McMahon through those plates of glass over and over? REMEMBER!) But that didn't mean they had to get rid of the craziness altogether. Did it...? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_2m9dHFVQ0k No, of course not. Because that, ladies and gentleman, was a Swanton Bomb delivered off a scaffolding from between 30 to 40 feet in the air. To put that in perspective, all the times Shane McMahon took a drop off the Titantron were from just slightly higher, and Shane wasn't flipping through the air. Did Hardy have a lot of cushioning to break his fall? Absolutely. Did he really land on Orton? Doubtful. But does any of that take away from the friggin' lunacy of what he did? Not a bit.
