5. Shoot Fighter Is Scared Of A Doll
On NXT, Shayna Baszler was a trained killer, dominating the Women’s Championship and putting on terrific matches with Rhea Ripley, Bianca Belair, and Kairi Sane. A UFC fighter with a believable mean streak, she made a big splash on the main roster and secured a WrestleMania match with hot property Becky Lynch in 2020.
One year later, the legit shoot fighter was tasked with running around an arena pretending to be scared of a doll. There have been plenty of low points in Alexa Bliss’ recent booking as a possessed schoolgirl (or whatever), but the detriment it has had to Baszler’s aura is among its biggest downfalls.
To her credit, Baszler threw herself into it, acting as convincingly as possible as though she feared this small, cheap looking doll, which through ill defined spooky powers trapped Shayna backstage in the build to a pay per view match.
Baszler’s enthusiasm for the role suggests she’s not entirely reluctant to indulge in this silliness, but why she’s not doing something far more suited to her talents than this is a mystery.
