10 WWE NXT Main Roster Call-Ups That Must Happen In 2018

8. Johnny Gargano

Johnny Gargano is the best babyface in wrestling.

A former indie standout, he has taken his game to the next level in WWE. His development accelerated as one half of DIY, with Gargano excelling as this era's answer to Ricky Morton, but he has been just as convincing since splitting from Tommaso Ciampa. He's a master bumper and seller. No other WWE Superstar generates half as much crowd sympathy, and while 'Johnny Wrestling' still has a few developmental boxes to check off, he's good enough for a main roster role.

The Ciampa feud should be one of 2018's biggest highlights. Beyond that, there's a chance Gargano could be granted an NXT Championship run, which would extend his Full Sail University stay well into the summer. Still, he could (and should) be Raw or SmackDown's next big babyface commodity, though there are plenty of reasons to be cautious: we don't want another Bayley-esque catastrophe.

With the right booking, there's no reason Johnny Gargano can't become a big main roster success story. He has all the tools in his locker, and while his size will always be a hinderance with Vince McMahon at the helm, he'd unquestionably build a huge following.
