10 WWE PPVs John Cena Main-Evented (But Shouldn't Have)
2. No Way Out 2012 (Vs. Big Show)
Next on the list of "John Cena's Filler Feuds From 2012" was his dispute with RAW/SmackDown GM John Laurinaitis. For reasons that don't matter and you don't care about, Johnny Ace was trying his darnedest to get rid of his biggest draw and most popular star in a mad power trip. After siccing Brock Lesnar on him didn't work, Big Johnny's Plan B was... the Big Show. Yes, that'll stop Cena, for sure.
Deciding to settle matters once and for all, Cena and Show were pitted in a steel cage match at No Way Out. If Cena won, Johnny Ace would be fired, and if Show won, Cena would be fired. Yes, in 2012, they were actually trying to play up the idea that John Cena might be fired for-realsies this time, guys, we swear.
Aside from the fact that the angle was impossible for anyone to buy, the match itself was quite terrible. It was as if Cena and Show had morphed into Hulk Hogan and King Kong Bundy with how slow and plodding they became. To add insult to injury, once again, both world titles were shunted, with Punk's triple threat for the WWE title with Bryan and Kane playing second fiddle to Cena and Show's nonsense.
Sure, Johnny Ace getting the axe was nice to see, but it would have been nice to have had a good match cap the evening, would it not?
