10 WWE PPVs That Could Replace Payback

3. War Games

Similarly to the Elimination Chamber concept, this one would perhaps be hampered badly by a lack of blood. That said, claret wasn't the only hook to the War Games matches, it's simply an utterly fantastic premise overall. Ever since the McMahon family swallowed up WCW in 2001, there have been fans waiting with baited breath to see one in WWE. Thus far, it hasn't happened, so now could be the ideal time. Again, post-WrestleMania usually sees things take a terrible lull in WWE. War Games would freshen things up and offer a carrot for older fans to see dangled in front of their faces. It may prove to be too enticing for many, and the promotion of War Games on pay-per-view could convince some to sign up to the WWE Network. It also fits the paradigms of a McMahon vs. McMahon rivalry. Both could have their teams, perhaps even Monday Night Raw's top stars against those of Thursday Night Smackdown. This would launch the new 'Brand Extension' perfectly without the need for another WWE Draft. Instead, top stars would be encouraged to pick a side, and the feuds resulting from this could carry WWE far beyond May 1.
