10 WWE Royal Rumble Betrayals You Didn't See Coming
3. Rikishi Eliminates Grandmaster Sexay And Scotty 2 Hotty (2000)
At the first Royal Rumble of the new millennium, Grand Master Sexay had the misfortune of drawing #2, starting the match with D’Lo Brown. His luck appeared to change when his Too Cool stablemate Rikishi entered at #5 and cleared the ring of all but Sexay. Rikishi gave Sexay the death stare, but the smaller man grabbed Rikishi’s hand to force a knuckle bump. Then, before in-fighting could begin, Scotty 2 Hotty raced to the ring as #6.
With Too Cool in the ring, Scotty roped the fans in to convince Rikishi to indulge in a dance break. After Sexay provided the big man with his signature yellow sunglasses, the trio got into formation, the lights lowered, and the music hit.
Fans were blessed with a ten-second dance performance before Rikishi rocked his teammates and threw them over the top rope. He offered a shrug and a title belt gesture as an explanation, continuing the dance solo, and wearing Scotty’s hat to add to insult injury. Fittingly, by the end of the year Rikishi would adopt his ‘Bad Man’ persona, being revealed as the villain behind Stone Cold Steve Austin’s hit and run.
