Recordholder: Santino Marella, 1.9 seconds, 2009

The rapid-fire toss from a Royal Rumble is often a comedy spot, designed to get a yuk as some hapless dweeb charges into the ring and is immediately deposited back on the floor. Through the years, 13 men have been eliminated in 5 seconds or less.

The Warlord held the ignominious record for 20 years, getting knocked out of the 1989 Rumble in 2 seconds. But in 2009, Santino Marella charged the ring at top speed, slid in… and was immediately sent over the top rope to the floor. Officially, he clocked in at 0.1 seconds less than Warlord’s record.

Theoretically, this record could always be broken, but realistically, it takes actual time to get in the ring and establish yourself, get knocked over the top rope and hit the floor. We’re talking such lightning speed that it would look beyond comical – like groan-inducing bad.

So we’ll declare this record safe, barring someone who can pull off that feat.
