10 WWE Stars Who Wanted (But Failed) To Jump To WCW
3. Jerry Lawler
Citing "attitude issues" backstage, then WWF announcer Jerry Lawler's wife Stacy "The Cat" Cater was released from his WWF contract. In protest of said release, Lawler refused to work, and was also released from his contract. Around July 2001, while attempting to figure out what to do with then then-purchased WCW, the WWF reached out to Jerry Lawler to return as an announcer for the WCW television program. The deal was set for both he and Stacy to return, but then the WWF reneged on half of the deal, saying that Stacy would not be a part of the product. Lawler backed out of the "jump to WCW," returning on November 19, 2001 to mainstream wrestling as the announcer on Monday Night Raw after the Alliance lost to Team WWF at the Survivor Series.
