Mike Knox was essentially the Braun Strowman of his day, except he wasn't nearly as physically impressive, and - inexplicably - had a girlfriend (Kelly Kelly, with whom he shared a uniquely WWE relationship, in that there was no earthly reason for her to be attracted to him).

In 2008, Knox was traded from ECW to Raw, where he began a short climb up the card, culminating in a WWE Championship opportunity at No Way Out the following February. As one of six competitors involved - and, to be fair, in a match type (the Elimination Chamber) that pretty much sells itself - it's not as though WWE were really trying to push the original 'Bearded Behemoth' as a star in his own right. He was really just making up the numbers, and his quick fall from grace thereafter made that abundantly clear.
