10 WWE Stars Who Could End Rusev's Reign Of Terror

2. Kurt Angle

This is about as far-fetched as Sgt. Slaughter, except that Slaughter is under contract and probably cleared to wrestle in WWE right now. Kurt Angle, on the other hand, keeps getting rebuffed at his efforts to return to WWE and compete. It€™s really a shame, because the Olympic gold medalist on paper certainly would look like a good candidate to stand up for America. Imagine Rusev, by then the U.S. Champ, dominating everyone in his path, issuing an open challenge at the Royal Rumble PPV, only to have the familiar horns blare and the red, white and blue to flash across the tron as Angle returns home. Angle topples Rusev and vaults himself back into fans€™ good graces, at least for one night. (Later, of course, he gloats too much and fans go right back to chanting €œYou Suck!€ in time with his music.) Unfortunately, Angle€™s health is a huge stumbling block for this, as is the idea of bringing back someone who clearly is at the end of his career and giving him a victory over an undefeated superstar. It might mean something in the short run, but it would be meaningless over time as Angle fades away. But it€™s fun to imagine Kurt coming out, dropping the singlet and slapping on the ankle lock for the good ol€™ U.S.A.
