9. Apollo Crews

The Intercontinental Title was a puzzling death sentence for Apollo Crews' 'Nigerian Prince' gimmick. He introduced that persona to fans in early-2021, and went all in on everything from the hokey accent to enlisting the towering Commander Azeez as his bodyguard. WWE were interested for a cup of coffee.

Apollo's surprise IC Title win came over future WWE Champ Big E at WrestleMania 37. Instead of acting as an encouraging sign that creative cared though, the character peaked. The company lost passion for Crews' gimmick almost overnight, and he all-but-disappeared despite being SmackDown's secondary male champion for 124 miserable days.

Most fans had probs forgotten Apollo was even IC Champ when Shinsuke Nakamura beat him on the 13 August SmackDown, which really says it all. He can't keep beating his head against the wall by continuing to act as phoney royalty, especially when his employer doesn't give a damn about it anymore.

Change is necessary, Mr. Crews.
